Hello April

Gosh - where is the year going? Been busy working away in my studio preparing to put my work on Folksy and the like, still kicking myself because I have not been brave enough to do it sooner but staying positive!

Mr E has been taking photos with his super camera - it's so hard - all the preparation! Need a name for my shop and any advice for starting out selling on the internet would be appreciated!

So here are some random pics and a detail of the owl linoprint I recently finished...

Perseverance

Glad the weather is good as I'm struggling this week with work but when I was 7,  I was awarded a prize for perseverance and I think of that when things are not going to plan. Also the artist mantra "you can't make a mistake - it's all progress" (or something along those lines...!)

So I tried a different way of printing - and it was too hit and miss so will cut a 'full' plate out next time..

I cut out the eyes and chest and mounted them on card but when printing they moved about so there was a 'shadow' on each print - NOT the effect I wanted!

a proof of how it will look when finished - although I may use yellow for the sun/feet/beak...

I intend to print the body in different colours and change the design of the eyes and chest.....

This Owl thing!

Had a strange week so far - I know it's only Tuesday but I just could not get started on anything as I'm terribly distracted by horrible building work going on next door.....but I have learned that when I'm in that mood to start new doodles or say hello to old unfinished ones...so here is a new print that I intended to start when I made the bags last Christmas.
I turned up the music and got stuck in! Phew - What a relief!

Owls....

Still working away, getting ready for craft fairs and made this bag (unfinished) by accident after some experiments with some old printing screens someone gave me.
It's all to do with thread count and the screen was letting through so much ink they were flooding the paper so instead of wasting the ink I found some bags to print on. Great experiment so I'll definitely be doing some more...with an added 'pun' that my mum disapproved of!
