Cool Cars

Back to my lovely press and busy making work for a craft fair coming up next month. Started printing my collection of vintage blocks of vehicles yesterday. I'm hoping to create postcards, greetings cards and other bits with the cars theme.....

Printing the collection in one go is a lot more difficult as it takes a little bit of adjustment here and there. Achieving a good print I've found, involves a few considerations...
  • choice of paper
  • amount of ink
  • amount of pressure applied
  • a soft or hard bed (the 'bed' or base of the press that is!)
  • and condition or type of block.

Here there are a mixture of printing blocks with lines and some with a half tone effect. But I'm really enjoying the process of trial and error and when you finally get it right (after a couple of hours and LOTS of scrap paper!) - it's a joy to run off a couple of hundred prints!
It's the setting up and experimentation that takes the longest!

I didn't get round to making a final print as I'd been busy all day and the ink had started to get tacky. So cleaned up and will start again tomorrow - can't wait!
